On 23rd July 2013, at a ceremony in the beautiful city of Lijiang, CLNG and BP Shipping celebrated their partnership as shareholders of CLSICO, which began on 27th July 2004 and ended on 31st July 2013 with the sale of BP Shipping’s shares to CNOOC. The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of CLNG, Mr Sun Jiakang; the CEO of BP Shipping, Mr John Ridgway; the GM of CLNG, Captain Yan Weiping; as well as by senior representatives of CNOOC, COSCO, China Merchants, BP Shipping and CLSICO.
Mr Sun emphasised the importance of the role that BP Shipping, as an experienced LNG shipping manager, had played in establishing CLSICO. Mr Ridgway expressed his pleasure that CLSICO had now become a first class LNG ship manager, so that BP Shipping’s involvement was no longer needed. All welcomed CNOOC as CLSICO’s new shareholder, which reinforces CNOOC deep involvement in LNG in all its phases, from gas field to customer.
